I’ve seen this image in a few places, and I found it so elegant I just had to post it here.
I’m not sure it’s 100% true; certainly people can be honestly mistaken about what they might have witnessed, and can also get caught up in the excitement of a crowd. We see this in UFO reports and ghost sightings all the time. Not that this makes these claims reliable — just that they’re not universally malicious, deliberate frauds.
Still, I think that followers of mainstream religions would do well to consider what’s so strange and untrustworthy about those sects they condemn as “cults,” and whether it might just be possible that those same problems could apply to their own traditions and beliefs.

Oh yes!
A few months ago my Catholic boss asked me “what’s the difference between a religion and a cult?” I said “100 years and 1000 members”. I like the answer in the picture above better, but it’s too strong to use at my job where my lack of religion is not general knowledge.
Old saying:
“We’re a religion, they’re the cult”
imo both are nuts.
